Social Media: It’s Here to Stay

If at the time of reading this post, and you don’t yet have your personal brand or a company brand image on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, et cetera, I believe it is a good time to start, right now. Think about it, social media is NEVER going away, whether you like it or not (unless you’re betting on the internet go away in the near future). What goes on the internet stays on the internet, pretty much forever. Especially if you have a business or a service to provide, chances are your customers are on social media. The sooner you start to build a reputation and a story for yourself and your brand, the better the chances of you standing out from your competitors.

Over my lifetime, I have witnessed the internet and social media become what it is today, and it never really hit me as to the importance of this concept of brand building until recently. That’s one of the reasons I started building my personal brand and blog because I realized that is the direction our future is heading, whether we like it or not.

It’s not too late. Don’t get left behind with the times, start posting content that shows who you are and what your brand represents.

Quick tip: New social media platforms are being developed every day. Get on all existing platforms and register your username if you have not already done so (even if you may not use it right away or need to ever). When there’s a new platform out, be the first to jump on it and register your name and brand! You don’t want to jump on a platform 5 years after it comes out only to be called MichaelLee_14. I’m jealous of you guys who have unique names where you can get firstlastname usernames…but for me it will be @michaelleedotco 🙂
